Jeremy Irons to star alongside Lady Gaga in Ridley Scott's Gucci
The film is expected to be released in late 2021.
Jeremy Irons has joined the cast of MGM's highly anticipated new film, Gucci – set to be directed by Ridley Scott. The veteran actor will feature alongside Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Al Pacino, Jack Huston and Reeve Carney.
The true-crime drama is based off the book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed – telling the story of the murder of Maurizio Gucci. In 1998, his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani was sentenced to 29 years in prison for arranging his murder. She was released in 2016.
Adam Driver is set to star as Maurizio Gucci, while Irons will play his father, Rodolfo Gucci. Lady Gaga, who was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in A Star Is Born, will play Patrizia Reggiani.
Roberto Bentivegna penned the screenplay for Gucci, which will be produced by Ridley and Giannina Scott, as well as Kevin Walsh. MGM has announced a November 24, 2021, release date for the film.
Academy Award-winning actor and 'honorary Corkman' Jeremy Irons is married to renowned Dublin-born actress Sinéad Cusack. He is currently in production on Netflix's Munich, an adaptation of Robert Harris's novel, in which he plays UK Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain.
