Irish release date announced for Nathan Fielder's Elizabeth Holmes documentary

An Irish release date of November 20 has been announced for Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim's documentary about Elizabeth Holmes, titled You Can See Everything.

The A24 film explores the Theranos founder's life a month before she began an 11-year prison sentence for defrauding investors. It shows her home and family life just before she surrendered to federal prison in 2023.

"Thirty-four days before she's sent to prison, notorious Silicon Valley founder Elizabeth Holmes invites a skeptical film crew to document her every move," reads an official synopsis. "What begins as an intimate portrait of an enigmatic felon becomes a mind-bending three-year journey into the abyss."

It first premiered as a surprise screening at Telluride Film Festival in September, sparking Oscar buzz before heading to the New York Film Festival. It is set to hit US theatres on October 16.

During a Q&A at the New York Film Festival last week, Fielder explained his experience meeting Holmes.

"When I met her, I remember having this weird experience where she seems so genuine at times," he said. "But then I'm like, 'no,' and clocking and tracking my thoughts and being like, 'Okay, I know she's a liar.' It was a weird mental thing. From there, we were like, 'Can we roll the dice on something if they were open to having cameras in?'"

This resulted in Fielder fully moving into Holmes' house that she shares with her partner, Billy Evans, and their two young children.

"I cannot tell you how weird it was that we were there," he continued. "Truly, to this day, we're still like - anyways, sorry. I wouldn't think I'd be the person you would want for your final period."

Holmes, the founder and CEO of the failed blood-testing company Theranos, was indicted in 2018 after prosecutors accused her of lying to investors about what Theranos' technology could actually do. She was charged with nine counts of wire fraud and two counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

She was then found guilty of defrauding investors in 2022 and sentenced to 11 years and three months in federal prison. Holmes began her sentence in May 2023 and is still there. According to ABC News, she's scheduled to be placed in a halfway house at the Austin Transitional Center in Texas on August 23, 2027.

Holmes also released a message from prison after the trailer for the film dropped on September 28.

"I was silenced for a long time," it reads. "And then imprisoned. I am fighting to prove my innocence and come home to my babies and the love of my life ... I am profoundly grateful for the support we receive as we fight to expose the truth and challenge deeply entrenched perceptions.

"Opening letters from my supporters at the end of unforgiving days constantly ignites the fire in my heart. 'The truth will set you free.' John 8:32."

I was silenced for a long time. And then imprisoned. I am fighting to prove my innocence and come home to my babies and the love of my life.

I have now been imprisoned for 1,216 endless days and nights. During that time, as we fight for freedom, my loved ones have helped manage my account. Billy is one of the people carrying that responsibility for me. He fights fiercely for me and our family. I love him beyond space and time.
