David Gilmour announces new concert film and album
His new single can be heard below.
Pink Floyd's former guitarist, vocalist and writer David Gilmour has announced a new live album The Luck And Strange Concert (to be released October 17) and a concert film Live At The Circus Maximus, Rome (coming to cinemas September 17).
His latest album Luck and Strange hit number one in the UK, Germany, Poland, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Portugal and Austria. All 23 dates of the album's tour were sold out.
The Luck And Strange Concert is comprised of 23 tracks recorded on the artist's Luck and Strange tour and features songs from Gilmour's most recent album as well as classic Pink Floyd tunes. The Luck And Strange Concert is available in both LP and CD format.
Additionally, the musician has released a new single 'Sorrow' ahead of the upcoming album.
The feature, Live At The Circus Maximus, Rome, will be shown worldwide in September and will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD on October 17. The film features Gilmour's live performance against the backdrop of ancient Roman ruins.
This wasn't the first time Gilmour performed in the ruins of Italy.
The 1972 film Pink Floyd at Pompeii featured the band's performance in the empty amphitheatre of Pompeii.
Gilmour returned to Pompeii for his 2015 album's Rattle That Lock tour where he performed two shows in the amphitheatre, the first-ever performances played to an audience at the historic venue.
The artist joined Pink Floyd in 1968 where he contributed to The Dark Side Of The Moon, which sold over 45 million copies.
Pink Floyd was inducted into the US Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.
In 1978 Gilmour released his self-titled album and has since released four more solo albums.
Tickets for Live At The Circus Maximus, Rome go on sale August 6. More information can be found here.
The Luck And Strange Concert and film DVD are now available for pre-order and can be found here.
