A Bernard Canavan documentary Theocracy - The Emigrants Artist has been announced for Cork's 70th International Film Festival, set to take place from November 6-16.
The event will also feature a number of Irish Documentaries and short films.
Theocracy - The Emigrants Artist is "an exploration of London-based artist Bernard Canavan, who was given up by his unmarried parents to an orphanage in Dublin," according to a synopsis. It "charts Bernard's extraordinary journey in trying to find out who he really is."
Additional announced documentaries include This Is A Prison and The Disappearance of Captain Nairac.
"The New Women’s Prison in Limerick is regarded, with an innovative ‘trauma-informed’ design, as the most state-of-the-art prison in Europe," reads the synopsis for This Is A Prison.
"But what does success look like in a facility like this and how does it reflect upon a modern Ireland? What is rehabilitation? Next to what social norms?"
The festivals short films are organised in three programs, Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland Shorts, Irish Shorts 2 and Irish Short 3 Pure Cork.
Tickets for Cork's International Film Festival are on sale now and can be found here.
