WATCH: First look at Steven Spielberg's <i>Ready Player One</i>

The trailer for the long-awaited adaption of Ernest Cline's sci-fi dystopian novel has finally arrived.

The plot follows young protagonist Wade Watts on his search for an Easter egg in a virtual reality game, the discovery of which will lead him to inherit a fortune. The story takes place in a not-too-distant future where the world is wrecked by an energy crisis.

The film stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, T. J. Miller, Simon Pegg, and Mark Rylance, and is slated to premiere in early 2018.
