Two women to take on 150km charity cycle from Dublin to Wicklow following pony theft

Two women are set to take on a 150km charity cycle from Dublin to Wicklow on Saturday, August 22, to raise funds and awareness for My Lovely Horse Rescue (MLHR).

The charity's rescue center in Kildare suffered the theft of their pony Eleanor in early June. A tip-off by a member of the public led the charity to Clondalkin, where Eleanor was safely found, hidden behind some bushes.

Following the return of the Falabella pony, the center is looking to improve security in order to prevent incidents like this in the future.

Belinda Morgan, founder of The Hairy Project, and Kerry-Anne Pollack, advocacy manager of My Lovely Horse Rescue will set off as part of 'Mad Mares Mini Tour for MLHR'.

Day 1 of the cycle will take 'The Mad Mares' from Dunnes, Crumlin SC to Roundwood, Day 2 from Roundwood to Brittas and Day 3 from Brittas to Sandymount Strand (Martello tower).

The cycle comes in response to "one of the most distressing incident in the charity's history." While Eleanor's return brought relief to staff, volunteers and supporters, the rescue has renewed focus on their need for security.
