Cumming for charity causes outrage
The British public – well, some of them! – have been shocked by Channel 4’s plan to broadcast the UK’s first masturbation marathon, which took place in London on August 5th. The masturbation marathon has run for six years in America and is used to raise money for charitable causes such as reproductive health clinics and HIV preventive education. You can be sure we’ll never see anything like that on RTÉ. A few years back they banned an advert for this very magazine because there was a reference to an article on the joys of masturbation written by yours truly.

Damn, there goes the fantasy. Sexual pleasure at zero g's sounds great in principal, but the reality is apparently a lot trickier than you’d have thought. With public space travel a near-reality, working out the logistics of sex in space has become an important issue for those hoping to encourage space tourism. Speaking at the NewSpace 2006 conference in Las Vegas, NASA veteran James Logan notes that sex in a low-gravity environment might be underwhelming and messy, and will need to be carefully choreographed in order to be successful.
No neon erotic please – we’re Latvian
Officials in Latvia’s capital have put in place a series of new regulations to tone down erotic adverts in Riga. Under the new rules it is illegal to have special lighting effects on signs for sex clubs, all windows of clubs must be covered and fines will be imposed on those handing out flyers for the city’s many sex clubs. Officials are aiming to change the image of Riga, which is seen by many European tourists as the place to go for cheap booze and sex.
