‘Free’ Porn – at a Price
ElectricNews.net has warned that web users offered free pornographic material are being targeted by a blackmailing spyware application. The application, DigiKeyGen, promises free access to subscription adult sites with a free password generator. Instead, users actually download spyware and an application claiming to be anti-spyware software. DigiKeyGen then warns the unfortunate user that his or her computer has been infected and offers an anti-spyware programme for USD49.95. This scam is fraud and any one who has been targeted by this malicious software is advised to contact the Gardai.

Feminist Porn Awards in Canada
This June, Toronto became the first city to host a feminist porn awards. According to organiser Chanelle Gallant, the awards want to celebrate filmmakers whose work is sex-positive and make women feel great about sex and their bodies. The awards fall into three categories: films that depict “genuine female pleasure”, films produced or directed by women, and films that “expand the range of pleasure for women”.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has rejected the proposal to create a .xxx domain for pornographic sites but the domain’s chief sponsor ICM Registry is to appeal the decision. Although ICANN gave a preliminary approval for the creation of the domain, pressure from conservative groups and even some web porn sites meant the body decided against the domain.
