The Blizzards announce Academy Dublin gig, share release date for new LP Sometimes We See More In The Dark
The Blizzards' fourth studio album Sometimes We See More In The Dark is set for release on May 13th.
Mullingar band The Blizzards have announced their fourth studio album Sometimes We See More In The Dark with an album launch party at The Academy, Dublin, on May 14th.
The 10-track album will feature recent singles 'Friction Burns', 'Trigger Me' and 'Play God' as well as the band's strongest sound and songwriting to date. The project is the result of time spent honing their craft and defining their musical identity during the many months of Covid lockdowns.

What was initially meant to be an EP turned into a full-length album as the band returned to the more straightforward, rawer music-making of their roots.
"It was about going back to the rawness of being in a garage band," says frontman Niall Breslin. "The idea of making your instruments work for the song rather than the song work for the instrument. Lyrically it felt like the album wrote itself… Like they were there already. That’s always a special feeling, because you know it’s coming from an authentic place."
“For me it was being given an opportunity to write and record music during the pandemic,” lead guitarist Justin Ryan adds. “It gave us a chance not only to rediscover ourselves musically, but also to hone our dynamic as a four-piece band. I'm looking forward to performing these songs live.”
Since their 2005 debut single 'First Girl to Leave Town' entered the Irish Singles Chart at No.11, The Blizzards have propelled themselves to the forefront of the Irish music scene, with catchy and dynamic hooks at the core of their guitar-driven indie-rock sound.
The new album was recorded at Camden Recording Studios in Dublin, and produced/mixed by Niall Breslin and Aidan Cunningham.
The Blizzards will also be taking to the summer festival circuit. They are set to play Bachelors Festival, in Mullingar on April 30, and the Wild Roots Festival, in Sligo on June 3rd.
Sometimes We See More In The Dark is out Friday May 13th via Warner Music Ireland.
The Blizzards will be playing an album launch party at The Academy, Dublin, on May 14th.
