Saoirse Ronan scoops top prize at Vancover Film Festival
Saoirse Ronan has won the Best Actress accolade at the Vancouver Film Critics Circle for her stellar performance in Lady Bird.
The coming of age drama which was written and directed by Greta Gerwig, sees Ronan in the lead role as a precocious teenager, Christine ‘Lady Bird’ Mc Pherson, on the brink of adulthood. The award comes just days after it was revealed that the Irish actress has also earned a Golden Globe nomination for the part.
Lady Bird has also garnered a Best Picture award and Best Supporting Actress for Ronan’s on screen mother, Laurie Metcalf.
The award ceremony will take place on January 6 in Vancouver where the Canadian film winners will be announced.
Lady Bird is due out in Irish cinemas on 16 February, so there’s still some time to wait, check out the trailer below.
