Pokémon Go Movie Already in the Works
What did people obsess about before Pokémon Go? We're beginning to forget...
After Nintendo's stock value jumped to an extortionate $9 billion, it wasn't going to be very long before Hollywood came knocking.
It's not even out on this side of the Atlantic yet but we've heard so much about it, yet we feel like we live, breath and dream Pokémon GO. If you're sick of hearing about people aimlessly wandering streets, glued to their devices and screaming 'I'M GOING TO CATCH YOU' then we're sorry because Pokémon GO is going nowhere. According to Deadline, Legendary Pictures (those behind Warcraft and Godzilla) are eager to start making a movie based on the augmented reality app asap.
Details remain sketchy but with such a success rate in the short time the app has been knocking around, to land a Pokémon movie deal that could transform into a series would be a lucrative money maker. Of course, this wouldn't be the first Pokémon attempt at a movie as they already have several in their filmography. However this resurgence in interest means that it could be the Pokémon Renaissance.
Keep your Poké Balls at the ready people!
