Cork busker and viral sensation Allie Sherlock talks about why she wanted to be a part of the Irish Women in Harmony project.
15 year old Allie Sherlock became a viral sensation seemingly overnight, after a video of her singing an Ed Sheeran song garnered millions of views in less than 24 hours. Her covers of popular songs have been shared across the board by the likes of Justin Bieber, opened for Gavin James, and right before the Coronavirus lockdown, the young singer went on tour with OneRepublic.
"We need to support and help others in this time of need," the young busker says of the Irish Women in Harmony cover of 'Dreams'. "Safe Ireland is an amazing charity that helps protect vulnerable women and children, and as a female Irish musician myself I admire many other female musicians. I’ve always looked up to Dolores O'Riordan and The Cranberries, for her success and incredible music that she was able to take all over the world."
So, in a word or two, being asked to participate in the 'Dreams' cover was a dream come true for Sherlock. "I was honoured to be asked to sing a song from such an INCREDIBLE legacy of a woman!"
