Gay Byrne's Classic Late Late Show Music Moments: Tommy Tiernan (1997)

A routine about the Crucifixion landed the rock'n'roll stand-up in hot water, with protesters assembling outside RTÉ’s Montrose studio before the Late Late had even ended. Tiernan was forced to retreat to the hospitality room before he was finally able to depart at 1am. The comic later expressed surprise over the incident, noting, “I thought the drugs sequence would create more of a stir.”
