FET Courses - Ballyfermot College of Further Education: "The Rock School has welcomed a wealth of diverse and talented artists"
The structure of a bachelor’s degree programme doesn’t suit everyone. That’s why the flexible, vocational learning – including training in practical skills and work experience – offered on FET Level 5 & 6 courses (also known as Post Leaving Certificate or PLC courses) can be a preferred option for many.

Renowned for launching one of Europe’s first practical education programmes specifically designed for creative musicians and songwriters in 1990, Ballyfermot College of Further Education (BCFE) has made history on more than one occasion.
‘The Rock School’ welcomed a wealth of dazzlingly diverse and talented artists in its time – including Damien Dempsey, Lisa O’Neill, Wallis Bird and Junior Brother, to name just a few. To complement the college’s traditional music performance programme (Ceoltóir), with its new traineeship in Traditional Musical Instrument Making, Maintenance and Repair, BCFE is also now home to the only uilleann pipe-making course in the world, and the only harp-making course in Ireland.
Music-related courses and options in Animation & Games, Art & Design, Business & Tourism, Digital Media, Education & Learning, Social Care, Television Film & Visual Effects and their Logistics and Distribution traineeship are all on offer, aiming to help kickstart your journey to viable employment. Meanwhile, graduates from the traineeship in the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business can now continue on with further ACCA qualifications to become a fully-fledged accountant.
