Chinese culture celebrated in Dublin at 'A World Born of Love' Global Spring Festival Gala
The acts of the night included a traditional Chinese guzheng ensemble, the cross-cultural band Neon Catcher, Harbour Ukuleles, and the Taylor Swift fan group The Liberty Swifties.
The 'A World Born of Love' Global Spring Festival Gala has taken place at Dublin's Teeling Distillery. On February 20, this event of cultural exchange celebrated Irish and Eastern heritage through music, dance, and poetry.
This year's gala was organised by the president of the Europe-China Cultural and Artistic Exchange Association Annie MacCarthy. Coinciding with the Lunar New Year, the event featured an international lineup of performers, including Antony (Ukraine), Nicole Polak (Brazil), Jessica Wang (China), and Seán Hughes (Ireland/China).
"When Irish people listen to Chinese erhu and guzheng, and Chinese audiences appreciate Irish bagpipes and harps, that spiritual touch is the seed of peace and understanding," MacCarthy told Together FM.
Taking place across multiple floors of the distillery, the event was executive produced by John Dwyer, and directed by Wang Yuyang and Pat Byrne.
The other acts of the night included a traditional Chinese guzheng ensemble, the cross-cultural band Neon Catcher, Harbour Ukuleles, and the Taylor Swift fan group The Liberty Swifties.
Since its first edition in 2021 as a virtual pandemic concert, the 'A World Born of Love' gala has taken place in several countries, including China, Malaysia, and Spain. This year marked the event's sixth anniversary.
