Boy George threatens to fire band members for refusing to play pro-Israel song

Boy George made a statement via Instagram that he will fire any members of his band who refuse to play his pro-Israel song, 'We Will Dance Again.'

"Even now the song is written, there are people in my band who are questioning whether they'll perform it with me. And those people will be fired," he said.

Boy George openly admitted to using AI to create this song, explaining that he didn't want to write with another musician as they would've gotten in his way.  The song was quickly removed from Bandcamp due to their strict zero-tolerance to AI policy.

The song contains lyrics like, "you say genocide, I say war," and was released to express support for the victims of the October 7, 2023 attacks. These attacks were sent from Hamas and resulted in the killing of approximately 1,221 Israeli people, with a further 240 hostages taken.

Israel has currently caused approximately 70,000 deaths in Palestine, including children. The United Nations inquired about the conflict and found Israel to be actively committing genocide against Palestine.

Following the release of the song, Boy George stepped down from his role as King Herod in the 2026 revival of Jesus Christ Superstar at The London Palladium.

He also went on to fire long-time manager of the Boy George Presents label, Tony Pontious. George called Pontious "gutless" via X, in response to him saying, "I want nothing to do with this song."

Boy George is the frontman for the 1980s pop band, Culture Club. The band have had four UK Top 10 Albums and have released popular songs such as 'Karma Chameleon.' The band are still scheduled for a UK arena tour later this year.
