Signed to prestigious Domino Records, Conor O'Brien has been lauded by the New York Times and has already appeared on Jools Holland. In the new issue of Hot Press (out tomorrow), he talks at length to Peter Murphy about his much-awaited new album.

Asked about the album's dark lyrics, he tells Hot Press, "I wanted to make it almost grotesque and physical with (track) 'I Saw The Dead'...

As Domino Records’ Harry Martin recalls "The night we signed the contracts we were in a bar around the Wandsworth area and Conor sat at the piano and started playing the melody line, (of 'I Saw The Dead') almost to himself, and it hooked into our head, and then about a month later this demo came through and it was that song. The whole thing is timeless in many ways."

According to O'Brien, it's all about: "transcendental darkness and the weirdness... That's what I was trying to go for in some of the songs. Dark imagery or feelings alongside really mundane domestic everyday things. Let them rest beside each other, peacefully."
