David Keenan records and releases new album on same day

Dundalk singer-songwriter David Keenan has recorded and released an album on the same day for Bandcamp Friday.

Keenan began to work on the nine-track record Just for today, at 11 am, releasing it five hours later.

Just for today was produced by Cian Synnott, and its title song features Donegal singer-songwriter Megan Nic Ruairí.

Bandcamp Fridays are monthly 24-hour events, where Bandcamp waives its revenue share to ensure that artists and labels receive more of the proceeds from sales. The next Bandcamp Friday is on March 6.

Released in 2020, David Keenan's debut album A Beginner's Guide to Bravery reached number one in the Irish Indie Charts.

Described as "widescreen, outward-looking and world-embracing", Keenan's most recent record, Modern Mythologies, was rated 9/10 by Hot Press. The LP was also mentioned in our 30 Best Folk Albums of 2025.
