The Dublin born five piece have done us proud with their melodic sound infiltrating nearly 30 venues across Ireland and the UK this past year. Brothers Rocky and Gordo Whittaker - with a few school chums along the way - have offered a confident debut with album Build Me a Swan.

Fresh tour dates include Dolan's, Limerick (December 4), Roisín Dubh, Galway (5), Whelan's, Dublin (6) and wraps up in Cyprus Avenue, Cork (7).

Their previous appearance at The Workman's Club in July and September sold out, so make sure you get in quick. Tickets for Whelan's are €10.25 including booking fee and are available online from www.ticketmaster.ie

Build Me A Swan ushers in a self confessed ‘second stage’ for the Chakras and, by the sounds of it, the rethink has done them wonders. They’re starting to sound like a six piece, shot through with the ambition to make big records. For something most probably recorded on a small budget, this is an impressively far reaching release, seven tracks, each one an epic.

If political philosophers needed proof that man is inherently prejudiced, they need only consider about how one would expect a band called The Chakras to sound. The mental image of skinny white hippies whipping out a guitar to show appreciation to rainclouds and nature-at-large is all too compelling. But it takes all of the first two notes of their debut single to throw that idea out the window and litter the street with it. In fact, it’s as indie as they come, sounding like Ireland’s take of The Kooks. No bad starting point.
