Philomena Lynott on the BBC Breakfast Show
She spoke this morning about visiting the Philip Lynott Exhibition in London.
Philomena Lynott has hailed the Philip Lynott Exhibition at the British Music Experience in the O2 in London as "brilliant."
Philomena was speaking on the BBC Breakfast Show, on BBC One television this morning. She viewed the exhibition, which has been installed at the O2, for the first time on Thursday evening.
"The exhibition is amazing," she told presenters Louise Minchin and Simon McCoy. "It is brilliant. I really hope the fans will all go along to see it."
Philomena also emphasised the wider appeal of an exhibition, which attracted rock enthusiasts in their tens of thousands from all over the world to its Dublin run.
"It would be great for young people to go to it," she said, "and to realise that if they have a dream – whether it's to be a footballer or a rock star – that they can achieve it."
Philomena talked about the successful campaign to erect a statue of Philip in Dublin – in particular praising the tribute bands and others who had played gigs to raise money for the monument which has become an iconic attraction in the city.
Presenter Louise Minchin also highly praised Philomena's superb No.1 best-selling autobiography My Boy, which she had read for the first time in preparation for this morning's programme.
Among those who viewed the exhibition on its opening day was Ferga Murray, who designed stage clothes for Philip. "It really took me back to when I was designing for him," she said of an exhibition, which kept her enthralled. "I remember so well Philip persuading me to give away what was supposed to be my husband's wedding shirt, to wear on stage."
The shirt, beautifully embroidered by Ferga, is one of the many hugely evocative items on display in the widely acclaimed exhibition.
The Philip Lynott Exhibition is in the British Music Experience at the O2 in London, for a limited run.
