The Charlatans: “Crashin’ In” (Beggars Banquet)

Pretty much the usual solid fare from The Charlatans. Lyrics vaguely slackerish. Swirling keyboards mildly fetching. Steady, full and reasonably accomplished backing track that drives faintly, groovily, inexorably onwards. The Charlatans have a slightly incongruous place on the musical map of Britain; they are hugely in danger of being left behind on pop’s byways.
