u: mack announce first gigs of 2010

u: mack launch into 2010 with a February 7 gig in the Dublin Button Factory featuring Dutch legends The Ex who’ll be accompanied by Brass Unbound, a.k.a. Swedish force of nature Mats Gustafsson (baritone saxophone), Chicago jazz heavyweight Ken Vandermark (tenor saxophone), Italian wild card Roy Paci (trumpet) and boundary busting classical futurist Wolter Wierbos (trombone).
Completing the night’s line-up are self-proclaimed tropical thrashers, Zun Zun Egui, whose excellent Bal La Poussiere EP is previewed on their MySpace. Tickets are €16 from the usual indie-minded outlets.
The u: mack action then switches to Whelan’s on April 15 where San Franciscan psychedelic rockers Wooden Shjips double up with equally out-there Limerick outfit Sea Dog. Tickets are €14.
