Chaplin headline Welsh rock festival
Former Bright New Sounds contenders Chaplin will headline the School Of Rock Festival in Wales next month.
The Wexford band Chaplin have been invited to headline the School Of Rock Festival taking place in Fishguard in Wales over the weekend of June 6-8.
Fresh from their recent appearance in the final of the Vodafone Bright New Sounds competition, Chaplin will top the bill at the main festival gig in Theatr Gwaun in the centre of Fishguard on Saturday June 7. The bill will also include the West Wales band The Rayguns and other local talent.
As part of the festival, Jackie Hayden from Hot Press will chair workshops on various aspects of making a career in music.
According to Chaplin’s main man Ian Doyle, “This is a great opportunity for us to gig outside Ireland. We were invited after we met up with Richard Jones who runs Fflach Records in Cardigan and he was really impressed with the production and artwork of our recent EP Paint By Numbers, and thought that new rock acts in South West Wales might learn from our experience. But we expect to learn from the visit to, and it’ll make an ideal launch for the UK release of our CD.”
