Fly + E.S.T announce Irish dates
New York trio Fly and Sweden's Esbjorn Svensson Trio are set to shake up the jazz purists of Ireland...
As one of the hottest new names to come out of the New York jazz scene, Fly will make their Irish debut with a four-date mini-tour next month.
The trio comprises Jeff Ballard (drums), Mark Turner (tenor saxophone) and Larry Grenadier, who is already well-known as bassist with Pat Matheny and the Brad Mehldau Trio.
With a sound that blends contemporary jazz with elements of funk, rock and Ghana rhythms, Fly have garnered critical and popular acclaim from across the musical spectrum.
Catch Fly at The Trinity Rooms, Limerick on February 3; The Half Moon Theatre, Cork (4), The Sugar Club, Dublin (5) and The Spring & Air Brake, Belfast (6).
Another outfit shaking up the piano jazz tradition is Sweden’s Esbjorn Svensson Trio, who return to Ireland in May.
Following on from their triumphant Vicar St. performance last February, E.S.T play Belfast’s Elmwood Hall (May 27), Dublin’s Vicar St (28) and the Cork Opera House (29).
