I Am Mine
This uncharacteristic stripped-down anthem sees Eddie Vedder trade his superannuated grunge caterwaul for a more contemporary baritone. The result is a less anachronistic, but also less emotive affair. First b-side ‘Bu$hleaguer’ is a pompous political broadside whose unlistenable spoken-word verses sabotage any good work done by the rhythm section. Third track ‘Undone’ is more like vintage PJ, and makes one wonder what was wrong with that formula.
