Hot Press has officially launched its new podcast series Dealing With Drugs.
Based in Ireland but global in reach, Hot Press magazine has been writing about drugs for fifty years with Lemmy, Pete Doherty, Howard Marks, Duff McKagan, Sam Fender, Moby, Margo Price, Steven Tyler, Marianne Faithfull, Matty Healy, Ian Brown and Noel and Liam Gallagher among those who’ve shared their pharmaceutical experiences with us.
Firm believers that prohibition of drugs, and punishing people for their use, don’t work, we want to see some drugs legalised and others decriminalised.
From heroin, ketamine and cannabis to MDMA, LSD and synthetics, we’ll be teasing it all out in our new monthly harm reduction podcast hosted by Stuart Clark.
For the series’ first instalment, Clark chats with Hot Press contributor and drug consultant Tony Duffin to explore the issue of drug use on the frontlines in Ukraine, with the discussion ranging from access to drugs, through responses from the Ukrainian government, to harm reduction efforts, or the lack thereof, for military personnel.
Stuart is also joined by Scottish cult-author Irvine Welsh who speaks about his brilliant new book Men In Love, Shane MacGowan, acid house and why social media is dangerously addictive.
To wrap up the episode, director of the Tacoma needle exchange programme, Paul La Kosky discusses the threat to harm reduction programmes in the US under the Trump administration, his concerns about the policies of US health secretary Robert F. Kennedy and other salient topics.
Hear about all this and more in Dealing with Drugs episode one, produced by Stuart Clark and edited by Flo Laurent.
