Tallaght Stands Against Racism demonstration announced following assault of Indian man
"Our local community will be taking a stand against this attack"
The Tallaght community have organised a Stand Against Racism Demonstration following the assault of an Indian man in the area that left him needing hospital treatment.
The demonstration, organised by United Against Racism and Dublin South West Together, will take place at the roundabout on Treepark Road, Kilnamamagh this Friday at 6:30pm.
The man was reportedly walking through Kilnamanagh when he was attacked by a gang of young people. He was stabbed, beaten and stripped of his clothes.
"Our local community will be taking a stand against this attack," said a social media post from Dublin South West Together.
"The people being attacked are our neighbours, their children are the children of our neighbours. We must stand by them and not allow racists who inflict violence to gain anymore."
The post also shared concerns about false information spreading regarding the incident.
"False accusations about the man were later spread on social media in an attempt to justify the attack."
"Racists and far-right groups have stoked the fire against immigrants for months, and this has fuelled racism across Dublin," they added.
