Woman responsible for shooting at Rihanna's house charged with attempted murder
Ortiz faces multiple other charges, including ten felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and three felony counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or camper.
Following a shooting at pop star Rihanna's house, a 35-year-old woman from Orlando, Florida, has been charged with attempted murder, according to prosecutors.
Ivanna Lisette Ortiz is accused of firing a semiautomatic rifle at the singer's Los Angeles mansion. The Los Angeles police spokesperson reported that authorities responded to the shooting at 1.21PM on Sunday and detained the suspect.
No one was injured in the incident. According to the Los Angeles Times, Rihanna was in the mansion at the time. The newspaper cited police radio traffic that "approximately 10 shots" had been fired from a vehicle across the street from the property’s gate.
Prosecutors noted that there were people in Rihanna's home as well as the property adjacent to it at the time of the shooting.
"This careless violence will not be tolerated in our community. Such shooters will find their next destination to be our jails and prisons," Hochman added.
The singer lives in the house with her partner, A$AP Rocky, and their three children. She has not publicly commented on the shooting.

The LAPD has found a series of posts on her social media mentioning Rihanna, according to CBS.
In one post on X, Ortiz wrote, "Are you there? ... Say something to me directly instead of sneaking around like you're talking to me where I'm not at."
Last September the star gave birth to her daughter. The couple announced the pregnancy at last year's Met Gala.
The 2025 baby news came after A$AP Rocky was found not guilty of firing a gun at a former friend, Terell Ephron. The trial saw Rihanna bring her two sons to court.
Rihanna hasn't released any music since 2022's 'Lift Me Up' and 'Born Again', written for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever film soundtrack. She's currently working on multiple businesses, including her makeup range, Fenty Beauty, and lingerie company, Savage X Fenty.
As of late February, the singer confirmed she is back in the studio, working on her new album. The record will mark Rihanna's first release since 2016's Anti.
