My Little Funhouse: "Wishing Well" (Geffen)

A very pleasant surprise because of its most intelligent intro. My Little Funhouse avoid the massed guitars cliché till almost midway through this and if its title "Wishing Well" suggests they've mortgaged themselves to Free, it's not in the song but in the snaking guitar figure and discerning sense of dynamics that recall Paul Kosoff. More of this and we might finally have an Irish band who understand Phil Lynott who understood hard rock is also about songs and the magpie instinct to steal from everywhere.
