Wilt man joins 2FM
Former Wilt mainman Cormac Battle has been unveiled as the presenter of 2FM’s new alternative music show. A hotpress.com exclusive
Airing Monday to Thursday from midnight till two, the as-yet-unnamed programme will be a godsend to Irish bands unable to get on the station’s daytime playlist.
"With the future of Phantom FM uncertain, it really couldn’t have come at a better time," says a record industry insider. "When you think how popular Uaneen Fitzsimons’ show was, it’s amazing that it’s taken them two-and-a-half-years to come up with a replacement."
Battle is no stranger to radio having previously presented on Phantom and FM104.
"I think there’s a bit of the ‘Tom Dunne factor’ in that Cormac will have the respect of musicians as well as listeners," our man continues. "I think 2FM are actively looking for people who can give them a bit of street cred."
