Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter has announced his latest ballet album Mirage, set to be released on June 5.
Following his first solo project Mythologies, released in 2023, Mirage is Bangalter's second ballet endeavour.
Described as "a vast and atmospheric piece of electronic minimalism", the record was commissioned for the 16-dancer ballet conceived by choreographer Damien Jalet and contemporary artist Kohei Nawa.
Bangalter has also announced an immersive event, which he will be hosting at Art Basel in Switzerland on June 20. The event will feature a DJ set from German producer Rampa combined with visual art by Julian Charriére.
Since the French electronic duo Daft Punk split up five years ago, Bangalter composed music for ballets and scored films, such as 2018's Climax.
Bangalter also teamed up with other artists, co-producing Lil Nas X's 2024 single ‘Light Again’, and doing a surprise b2b performance in February of this year with Fred again.. to close Fred's USB002 tour at Alexandra Palace, London.
Daft Punk parted ways in 2021. Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Bangalter had been making music together since 1993 until they released their eight-minute-long farewell music video ‘Epilogue’.
