Watch: Stars talk Michael D
Six of Ireland's finest artists speak to camera about their presidential candidate of choice.
Last night's special gig for Michael D. in The Village was a star-studded event, as musicians, actors and writers all gathered to lend their support to Michael D. Higgins' campaign to become the next President of Ireland.
With The Stunning performing alongside Mundy on the night, the Brothers Wall took some time to tell us why we should vote for the Limerick man.
Steve Wall: "He's a poet, a visionary. he's a fair man, he's a philosopher, he's a socialist and he believes in people."
Joe Wall: "I hope that when you cast your vote on Thursday, you vote for somebody, not based on the promises that they make, but on their track record."
Also playing on the night were esteemed singer-songwriters Joe Chester and Si Shroeder. Joe comments that "Michael D Higgins remind me of what I love about Ireland and sometimes you need reminding", while Si feels that "What he can do is bring a sense of intelligence and sense of artistic and cultural integrity to the office."
In her clip, actress Maria Doyle Kennedy argues that Michael D. is "our only option for President."
Hugh O'Connor, who appeared in Killing Bono this year, touched on his championing of the arts: "An incredible ambassador for the arts, for the film board, for Section 481."
