Walking On Cars Sign To EMI/Virgin
The Dingle band are set to release their major label debut this month
Walking On Cars have signed to EMI Virgin. The first single from their forthcoming EP, 'Hand In Hand’, described by their record company as "a knee-buckling example of rock balladry at its finest as booming guitar riffs collide with indelibly gentle piano melodies."
This is the debut major label release from the Kerry natives The Hand In Hand EP is set for release on July 7, with an impact date on August 15.
Walking on Cars are five school friends from Dingle in Co. Kerry – singer/lyricist Patrick Sheehy, pianist Sorcha Durham, lead guitarist Dan Devane, bass guitarist Paul Flannery and drummer Evan Hadnett.
They have already gained national prominence not only by winning the Red Bull Bedroom Jam 2012 competition but also through extensive radio play of their infectiously melodic debut single, 'Catch Me If You Can', which reached No.27 in the Irish Charts and stayed there for over 20 weeks. (The song also went to No.1 in the iTunes chart, while YouTube views are currently over 420,000.)
The band’s second single, 'Two Stones', reached No.12 in the Irish charts, while YouTube views are currently over 530,000.
Walking On Cars play The Academy, Dublin this Thursday, July 3rd and are also lined up for the Indiependence Festival later this Summer.
