The sequel to the 1996 black comedy will be hitting the silver screens in early 2017.
Trainspotting 2 will be released early next year with filming officially beginning today. A video teaser was uploaded to Youtube containing some footage from the original film and a voice over from lead man, Ewan McGregor.
The next movie will feature all the original cast members in their previous roles and will see Danny Boyle return to the directors chair. McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle will reprise their roles. The original movie was based on a novel of the same name by author Irvine Welch and focused on the lives of a group of heroin addicts in a disadvantaged area of Edinburgh in the 1980's.
Trainspotting 2 will be released on January 27 2017.
The new movie will be based off the same author's 2002 novel Porno with some adjustments made to the story's timeline. "We've had to evolve past that, because the actors would have been ten years older when Porno came out, and now they're 20 years older. It has to take into account that reality", Welsh explained recently.
The story will focus on the four main characters Spud, Renton, Begbie and Sick Boy getting involved in pornography industry. Despite Sony stating filming begins today actor Ewan Bremner (Spud) was spotted in character on the streets on Edinburgh last week.
