From Northern Irish Trio Vokxen, Running is an electropop anthem about pushing forward no matter what.
Rapidly becoming one of the hottest names in Northern Irish music, Vokxen started out thrilling crowds in Belfast with a sell-out debut launch. Subsequently, they went on to be selected as a ‘Scratch’ Act with Oh Yeah Music Centre, performing at top NI festivals such as Stendhal Festival of Art, Sunflowerfest, Sound of Belfast in addition to featuring in the ‘Women’s Work’ festival (with one of the multitalented members, Beccy Henderson, also featuring in Channel 4 sitcom Derry Girls as Aisling).
Their first release of 2018, "Running" is a testament to the band's success. Posted with a commemorative #vote100, in celebration of parliament passing the law to allow the first women to vote, "Running" drives home the struggle, perseverance and sheer force of will required to make lasting change, whether it be in one's own life or in the world. The track exudes a dark, edgy mood with vampyric undertones and the video, complete with 80s inspired neon lights, and mesmerizing visuals, is a worthy accompaniment.

Rather than running, the song leaves you craving more. Luckily, bewitching new track "Crystal Eyes" is due to be released on 31st October. Back with 80s inspired mesmerizing pop "Crystal Eyes" draws on feminist film critic Laura Mulvey's theory of "The Male Gaze" along with inspiration from cult classic The Dark Crystal. The spell-binding song leans into a more contemplative, searching mode that prompts truly captivating lyrics coupled with an enticing rhythm.
