Ériu: The Story of Ireland's Music coming to Ambassador Theatre
The multi-media show is narrated by Ériu, the Celtic matron goddess of Ireland.
Ériu: The Story of Ireland's Music will be playing at the Ambassador Theatre on December 10, 11 and 12. The 90-minute show tells the history of Irish music through live music, video, and narration.
Ériu is the Celtic matron goddess of Ireland, from whose name the word Ireland stems. According to the official description, she narrates the story from "her own mythological beginnings to the golden thread that binds all of Ireland's heart-felt music together".
The Story of Ireland's Music spans trad, folk, rock, and pop, encompassing old favourites as well as current headliners.
It features the music of U2, Thin Lizzy, The Dubliners, Planxty, The Cranberries, Van Morrison, Hozier, Sinéad O'Connor, Rory Gallagher, The Boomtown Rats, Kneecap and more. Their songs will be performed as medleys by a ten-piece live band which includes several All-Ireland Champion trad musicians.
This show is the first to attempt to tell the entire history of music in Ireland through performance.
Tickets to the performance will be available from 10 a.m. this Friday, here.
