Tim Burgess to launch this year's JD Set
Unsigned bands wanting to take part can meet the Charlatans singer in Dublin & Cork.
Tim Burgess of The Charlatans flies in this month for the twin launches in Dublin and Cork of The JD Set.
First up between 4 and 6pm on October 15 is Whelan’s where Tim will be talking about the competition and meeting unsigned bands interested in entering.
It’s off then the following day to the People’s Republic where Tim will be holding court in The Pavilion from 3 to 5pm.
Following regional JD Set heats in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford early in the New Year, five acts will slug it out in April at the Grand Final in The Village, Dublin.
That night’s victors will receive mentoring from Mr. Burgess, studio time in Grouse Lodge and the inclusion of tracks on the official JD Set 2010 CD, which will grace the cover of Hot Press.
Details of how to enter are available from www.thejdset.ie, with the only proviso being that all band members are over 18 years of age.
The J.D. Set has an impressive pedigree with The Coronas, The Chakras and Camogie Lovers, now known as We Cut Corners, among the previous winners.
