THEESatisfaction - Earth EE
Alt. R&B duo return with cosmic LP
Three years after the release of their uber smooth debut awE naturalE, Seattle R&B duo THEESatisfaction return with follow-up, EarthEE. And like their Subpop label-mates and collaborators Shabazz Palaces (who feature aplenty on here), Stas Irons and Cat Harris-White’s brand of cosmic soul and funk makes for an often off-kilter, even jarring listen at times. Stick with it, though: this is a well-crafted piece of work, full of hypnotic beats and dense, otherworldly soundscapes. It’s at its most accessible on the smooth, laidback ‘Fetch / Catch’, and ‘Blandland’, while the likes of ‘No GMO’ and ‘Post Black Anyway’ may require a few more listens!
