Fontaines D.C. on course for second No.1 album in the UK

Fontaines D.C. are on course for a second UK No. 1 album with Dopamine Chamber. The midweek insight for the UK charts has revealed that the band's fifth record may reach No. 1 on the Official Albums Chart on Friday.

Their first UK No. 1 album was 2022's Skinty Fia. The group's three other records, 2019's Dogrel, 2022's A Hero's Death, and 2024's Romance, have all previously reached the Top 10.

Following the release of Dopamine Chamber last Friday, they could also see three tracks from the record in the UK Top 40 this week. These include 'Marianne', which is on for a new peak at No. 8, 'Six Shot Morning' (No. 9), and 'Mimesis' (No. 11). Hot Press gave the album a 9/10 and called it "one of the true landmark albums of 2026."

Other artists set to enter the Top 10 on the chart include Co. Down band Ash at No. 5, they are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut record 1977 with a new double-sided vinyl variant. Rachel Chinouriri with her new album, I think I spoke too soon, is at No. 4. Zach Bryan's new EP, Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs, is projected to place at No. 10.

Fontaines D.C. are set to headline Slane Castle, Co. Meath in June 2027. They will be the third Irish act, along with Thin Lizzy and U2, to headline the venue. The band were originally supposed to perform one show, however a second was added due to demand.

They will be joined by special guests Hayley Williams, Damien Dempsey, and Madra Salach, with more to be announced.

They have announced a run of shows in Japan, Australia, and New Zealand in January 2027. They will also be embarking on a North American tour, beginning in April 2027. Dates include Boston, Chicago, Seattle, and Atlanta.
