The Strokes to play low key UK dates
Julian and co are heading to the UK (and possibly Ireland) for three low key dates this December
The Strokes will release their eagerly awaited second album on October 20 through Rough Trade in the UK and Ireland and RCA in the rest of the world. Recorded in New York with Gordon Raphael who also oversaw Is This It, the album will contain 11 new tracks and will be entitled Room on Fire.
It will be preceded by the release of '12.51' as a single on October 6.
The Hot Press newsdesk can exclusively reveal that The Strokes will play three low key dates in the UK in December and will schedule a full European tour early in 2004. According to source close to the band, it is very likely that Irish dates will be included on this tour. If you can't wait that long for your Strokes live fix, then get saving for the US dates which will happen concurrent to the album's release.
As for Room on Fire, Julian Casablancas has revealed that the influence of New York alt-gods Sonic Youth can clearly be heard on the album, especially on the 12.51 single.
Its time to start getting very excited people!
