Sziget 2026: What to Know and Expect as a First-Time Explorer
Here are some key tips and info, to ensure you have the best experience imaginable at one of Europe’s leading festivals…
With the Sziget team continuing to unveil thrilling new details about their 2026 programme, it’s officially time to get excited – and start plotting a summer festival experience you’ll never forget.
Returning to Óbuda Island in the heart of Budapest from August 11 to 15, Sziget will be playing host to some of the biggest names in international music, including Bring Me The Horizon, Florence + The Machine, Jorja Smith, Lewis Capaldi, Skepta, Skrillex, Sombr, Twenty One Pilots and Zara Larsson, alongside exciting rising stars and local heroes.
Every year, around 100+ nationalities are represented on the ‘Island of Freedom’, with people travelling from as far away as Brazil, New Zealand and beyond, to join in on this major celebration of global culture, community, creativity and escapism. The line-up is just as international – featuring performers from over 60 countries.
But with such a dazzlingly diverse selection of acts and events on offer across the five days, it can be hard to know where to start. That’s why we’ve compiled this handy list of what to know and expect – whether you’re a first-time ‘Szitizen’, or simply want a quick refresher on all the festival essentials…
EMBRACE THE VIBE
The energy at Sziget is unique – with a big emphasis on freedom, self-expression, diversity and inclusion. From its early days in the ‘90s, as a small gathering of passionate young music fans, organisers viewed the festival as a temporary ‘dream nation’, where ideas from around the world could be celebrated and shared peacefully.
Sziget has always taken a strong stance in support of freedom of thought, lifestyle, sexual orientation, religion, and speech, as a crucial part of what makes the ‘Island of Freedom’ so special.

GET TO KNOW THE STAGES
From international heavy-hitters, to underground heroes, the sheer number of acts at Sziget is phenomenal. That’s why it’s important to get to grips with the festival’s various stages and districts ahead of time – to ensure you don’t miss a thing.
The Main Stage is where you’ll find the biggest gatherings on the island, with performances from some of the most exciting names in international music.
As the sun sets, the festival’s Delta District also comes to life with electronic music, featuring over 100 artists across three stages. The biggest of them all is the Bolt Night Stage, which is set to feature massive acts like Peggy Gou, Sara Landry, Argy and more.
The Revolut Stage, meanwhile, is Sziget's second-biggest stage – featuring major global acts, and incredible electronic music by night. Expect massive sets from Underworld, Nia Archives, Parcels, Dijon and more...
If you're looking for your new favourite artist, you just might find them at The Buzz – a stage dedicated to thrilling emerging talent, from rising rock and indie bands to innovative world music acts.
This year, Sziget is also launching the Budapest Park Stage – a space where Hungarian music takes over. Whether you understand the lyrics or not, this will be a brilliant spot to soak in the sounds of Hungary, spanning pop, rock, indie and rap.
And that's just a taste of what to expect – with many more stages dotted all across the island.

ACTIVITIES & SURPRISES
Beyond the music, there is so much to love about Sziget. During the day, explore the various activities and workshops available to festival-goers as part of the festival’s programme – including morning yoga classes, to set you up nicely for the busy day ahead.
You can look forward to unique performances, insightful conversations, art installations, circus, theatre and more – as well as lots of late-night surprises.
This year, Sziget is hosting the CPPP company’s The Whale Street, a large-scale, multidisciplinary street performance – inspired by Moby Dick – blending circus, dance, theatre and live music.
Sziget’s Magic Mirror – celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and all its allies – is also set to return, with unique drag shows, performances and artist showcases.
Other creative highlights include Cirque du Sziget, the Theatre & Dance Stages, The Travelling Funfair, and, for interactive workshops and exhibitions, ArtGarden.

CAMPING ON THE ISLAND OF FREEDOM
There’s plenty of camping and accommodation options available on the island – meaning you can enjoy the convenience of having the whole festival right on your doorstep across the five days.
Sziget is also one of the few festivals in the world where you can camp on-site for free, with Basic Camping included in your ticket. Pitch your tent anywhere in the spacious area, and avail of facilities like community showers and an on-site ALDI.
If you’re bringing your own tent, you’ll need to pick up a leave-no-tent deposit ticket on entry. When you’re leaving, take your tent with you – or at least leave it at one of the designated drop-off points – and you’ll be able to redeem the deposit ticket, and get the amount back.
Pre-pitched tents are also available – as well as other options and upgrades like Camping of Nations, where people from all around the world come together; Family Camping; Caravan Camping, and accessible camping at XS Camping.
If you love your comfort, and a touch of luxury, there’s also a range of exclusive pre-installed accommodations at Sziget Ville Premium – including bell tents and wooden huts.

PLAN YOUR JOURNEY
Óbuda Island is located close to the city centre, so you have a range of options to choose from, when getting to and from Sziget – the best, of course, being public transport.
The best way to plan your journey is through BudapestGo – the official app for Budapest Public Transport – where you can also buy and validate your tickets.
If you've just landed in the country, the 100E Airport Express bus runs 24-hours a day, and will take you right into the city.
When travelling between the city and the festival, the easiest option is the H5 on Budapest's HÉV suburban railway, which will bring you to Filatorigát, your stop for Sziget.
Alternatively, if you'd rather hop in a taxi, keep in mind that the festival have partnered up with BOLT and Főtaxi – meaning they're the only taxi providers who can bring you right to the Main Entrance at K-Bridge.

DOWNLOAD THE SZIGET APP
When it comes to navigating Sziget, the best place to start is by downloading the dedicated festival app. There, you’ll be able to browse through stages and venues, and use the map feature to find your way around the festival and its various districts.
It also allows you to search for artists, and create your own personal schedule. If you enable notifications, you can be alerted before all your favourite acts begin, and stay up to date with all the latest festival announcements.
The Sziget app is also a handy place to manage your wristband – which will allow you to pay for drinks, food and other essentials through the festival’s entirely cash-free system, by simply tapping your wrist on the terminal.
You can top up your wristband onsite at designated Festipay points too, but if you want to avoid queues, the app is your best option.
From there, all that's left to do is embrace the magic of Sziget – and dive into all the music, art and creativity that awaits on the Island of Freedom...
