The Strokes release new single ‘Falling out of Love’
It's the second track from their upcoming album Reality Awaits
The Strokes have released a new track, ‘Falling Out of Love’, from their upcoming album Reality Awaits. The song marks the second single from the record, after ‘Going Shopping’. The album is set for release on June 26.
It will be the band’s first album since 2020’s The New Abnormal, which earned The Strokes their first Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. The new record also sees the band reunite with producer Rick Rubin, who worked on The New Abnormal.
The two singles released so far show influences from lead singer Julian Casablancas’ second band, The Voidz, an experimental rock group with whom he has released three studio albums. Guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. also released a solo album in 2023, while bassist Nikolai Fraiture released an EP with his band Summer Moon the same year. Guitarist Nick Valensi’ band CRX released an album a year later.
The Strokes recently performed at Coachella, where the band projected a video montage accusing the U.S. government of orchestrating forced regime changes in countries including Chile, Bolivia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The montage also featured footage of Black Lives Matter protests and images of Martin Luther King Jr., while lead singer Julian Casablancas sang the lyric: 'What side are you standing on?'
Lst month, the band also announced a tour across North America, the U.K., Europe, South America and Japan, including a sold-out final show at the 3Arena in Dublin in October. After performing at Coachella, they are also set to appear at festivals including Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, Outside Lands and Sea.Hear.Now Festival.
