The Script announce new single 'The Crowd was Singing Wonderwall'
The song and album come out tomorrow and are available to pre-save.
The Script have announced that their new single ‘The Crowd Was Singing Wonderwall’ will be released tomorrow, July 10. The song is the latest single in their upcoming album The User’s Guide to Being Human which comes out August 14.
They will follow the album with a UK and Ireland arena tour, starting in Dublin’s 3Arena for two shows on October 30 and 31.
The Script’s inspiration for the record came from Oasis' Live ’25 tour last year
“I’m a huge Oasis fan. Always have been," said The Script's frontman Danny O’Donoghue. "But I don’t think Liam and Noel knew the full impact of what they were doing when they got back together … The Gallaghers reuniting put into the zeitgeist the idea that forgiveness is cool again."
The band was formed in 2001 by O’Donoghue, lead guitarist and producer Mark Sheehan and drummer Glen Power. They gained international fame with their self-titled debut album in 2008.
The Script were previously My Town, a four-piece group started in 1996 with Terry Daly and Paul Walker. My Town disbanded in 2001 and O'Donoghue and Sheehan then recruited Power and officially began The Script.
Following Sheehan's unexpected passing in April 2023, bassist Ben Sargeant and guitarist Ben Weaver were added to the band's lineup.
The band just completed their run as special guests to Take That’s UK and Ireland tour. This month, they will play four shows with Luke Combs, including one in Slane Castle.
The album’s other single ‘Man in the Arena’ was released May 22 and A-listed by BBC Radio 2.
The song and album are available to pre-order and pre-save here.
