The REPEAL project release music video for Saw Doctors Everyday ahead of referendum
The emotional track was written in 1995 about the Irish women who travel overseas each day in order to access abortions and the proper medical care.
With less than 24 hours until the polls open, emotion and anguish continues to seep through the Irish public as we prepare to vote to repeal the 8th Amendment.
REPEAL Project have now released their take on the Saw Doctors song 'Everyday' - a black and white music video containing the faces of those who have been forced to travel away from their home country to see medical care.
Posted by both the REPEAL Project and founder Anna Cosgrave on individual channels, the video is another example of the widely felt frustration and sadness coursing through campaigners.
“This is the only song written about the women who travel Everyday from Ireland to access abortion services abroad and this collaboration with the Saw Doctors brings these women’s stories to life.
In it we see a diverse range of Irish women, all of whom are voting Yes tomorrow, representing the women who travel. For me this song is a clarion call for care and compassion, On May 25th I hope voters will think of all the women and girls who need their Yes”.
