The Pentagon “Shakes Off” Fox News’ conspiracy theory surrounding Taylor Swift

Earlier this week, Fox News anchor Jesse Watters hosted a five-minute-long segment suggesting that pop star Taylor Swift’s incomparable success could be accredited to her participation in a psychological operation manufactured by the CIA.

“Taylor Swift is the biggest star in the world,” said Watters, “but have you ever wondered why or how she blew up like this?”

Watters went on to state that the illicit government scheme began four years ago, sharing a conference clip from 2019 in which a speaker lists Taylor Swift as an influential online personality. “Yeah, that’s real,” Watters said. “The Pentagon psy-op unit pitched NATO on turning Taylor Swift into an asset for combating misinformation online.”

The news anchor later pointed to Swift’s relationship with footballer Travis Kelce, who recently used his platform to promote the Pfizer vaccine, saying that the pair has brought a new demographic onto the political battlefield.

Despite the admitted lack of evidence, Watters speculated that Swift was covertly working with the White House to encourage voter support for the re-election of President Joe Biden, a theory that was corroborated by former-FBI agent Stuart Caplin.

Since the segment was aired on Tuesday, Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh has refuted all claims made by the right-leaning media outlet, stating that “As for this conspiracy theory, we are going to ‘shake it off,’” according to Politico.
