Bruce Springsteen has authorised the use of 'Born In The USA' for an anti-ICE video. The clip shows footage from several ICE arrests of American citizens, with Springsteen's song playing in the background.
Beginning with a clip of Springsteen calling for ICE to "get the fuck out of Minneapolis", recorded at singer's January New Jersey show, the video lists a total of nine arrested victims, including Renee Good, shot by ICE on January 7.
The anti-ICE video was released via nonprofit film company Brave New Films, and it was directed by its founder and documentary filmmaker Robert Greenwald, known for works like Uncovered: The War on Iraq (2004), Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism (2004), and Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price (2005).
Springsteen released his song ‘Streets of Minneapolis’ in protest against the ICE occupation of the city, and killings of Alex Pretti and Good last month. The track had its live debut during singer's surprise appearance at the 'Defend Minnesota!' benefit show, hosted by Tom Morello on January 30.
Trump administration's spokesperson Abigail Jackson responded to the protest song, calling it a "random song with irrelevant opinions and inaccurate information".
Trump also told Truth Social that he "never liked him (Springsteen), his music, or his Radical Left Politics," calling Springsteen "a dried-out prune of a rocker".
Other artists who have spoken out against ICE include Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, Green Day, Neil Young, Zara Larsson, Duran Duran, and more.
