Bruce Springsteen denounces ICE and dedicates song to Renee Good
"So this song is for you, and the memory of the mother of three and American citizen Renee Good", said Springsteen. See the recorded performance and speech below.
Bruce Springsteen has denounced Immigration and Customs Enforcement and dedicated his song 'The Promised Land' to recently killed Minneapolis woman Renee Good, during his unannounced appearance at New Jersey’s Light of Day WinterFest.
He joined headliners Joe Grushecky & the Houserockers on stage and preceded the performance with a speech encouraging people to protest against Trump's administration and unlawful ICE actions.
"If you stand against heavily armed, masked, federal troops invading American cities, and using Gestapo tactics against our fellow citizens; if you believe you don’t deserve to be murdered for exercising your American right to protest; then send a message to this president".
Bruce Springsteen has been speaking out against Trump and his politics for years. In 2025 he gave a speech at the E Street Band's show in Manchester, condemning Trump's policies and his "corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration".
During the Light of Day gig, Springsteen called 'The Promised Land' one of his greatest songs and "an ode to American possibility: both to the beautiful but flawed country that we are, and to the country that we could be".
See the recorded performance and speech below.
