The Jim Jones Revue
Rock 'n' roll rebels release savage third album...
After releasing two absolutely incendiary records that gleefully raised the tempo and lowered the tone, London-based raunch ‘n’ roll heroes The Jim Jones Revue return with album number three, The Savage Heart.
They’ve decided to stretch their sound a little this time around. ‘70s glam (‘It’s Gotta Be About Me’), brooding piano-led ballads (‘Chain Gang’) and call and response-based anthems (‘7 Times Around The Sun’) are all welcome additions to their Jerry Lee Lewis meets the Dead Boys style, and singer Jim Jones’ righteous holler confirms that he has some of the best pipes in the rock scene today.
Album highlight is the ghostly final track ‘Midnight Oceans + The Savage Heart’ which is an ear-gasm inducing blend of ‘50s coffin rock and Twin Peaks-esque atmospherics. But pretty much everything on the opus is essential listening.
