The Beatles release new recording 'Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)(Second Version-Take 2)'

The Beatles have dropped a new recording of 'Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) (Second Version-Take 2)' ahead of the release of the new Rubber Soul special edition album on October 2, 2026.

'Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) (Second Version-Take 2)' will be included in the Rubber Soul special edition. The album is newly mixed by producer Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell. The expanded edition features 24 early session recordings, including 20 previously unreleased takes, and 3 previously unreleased home demos.

The album will also feature a new stereo mix, the original mono mix, the original Capitol US version and the single 'Day Tripper/We Can Work It Out.'

Rubber Soul was first released on December 3, 1965. The album marked a significant moment in The Beatles' evolution. The album arrived at the end of a year that had seen immense commercial and artistic success for the band. Rubber Soul saw the group moving away from typical pop music conventions, towards a more adventurous approach to songwriting and recording.

George Harrison, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, and Paul McCartney formed The Beatles in 1960 in Liverpool.

The band have sold approximately 600 million units over the course of their career. They achieved 19 No. 1 albums on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, along with 20 No. 1 singles. The band earned 7 Grammy awards, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.

The band's story will be depicted in a four-film series by director Sam Mendes, starring Harris Dickinson (John Lennon), Barry Keoghan (Ringo Starr), Paul Mescal (Paul McCartney) and Joseph Quinn (George Harrison). The first film is set for release in April 2028.
