The Dead South mark new album with single and video 'Tiny Wooden Box'
Chains & Stakes will be released on 9 Feburary via Six Shooter Records. Watch the video for their latest track 'Tiny Wooden Box' below.
The Dead South have marked the announcement of their album Chains & Stakes with the release of the single ‘Tiny Wooden Box’.
The new track sees the Canadian bluegrass band confront the challenges of returning home. Propelled by chugging acoustic guitar, the song picks up speed and hurdles through uneasy thoughts – with bolts of off-kilter banjo present throughout.
Accompanying the tune is a video shot on the historic Graham Ranch in the Alberta Badlands in the group’s native Canada. The awe-inspiring landscape provides a visual antithesis to the song’s – as its title suggests – smaller setting.
Chains & Stakes' , The Dead South’s fourth studio album, tells the story of a band that has developed their sound with each release. They don’t shy away from ruffling traditionalists' feathers , executing banjo rolls and lightning fast mandolin tremolos - as they continue their climb to the top of bluegrass stardom with the following mantra - “If you’re going to be outsiders, you’d better be great.”
The project was recorded alongside Sugar & Joy producer Jimmy Nutt in Mexico City, where they convened to record 13 songs – covering issues ranging from plot twists, family trees, grudges, insurance scams and naturally, bacon.
The acclaimed Canadian folksters will also be touring Ireland, the Uk and North America in support of the new record, including a sold out date at Dublin's Vicar Street on 2 November. For more information, including dates and tickets, or to preorder Chains & Stakes, visit www.thedeadsouth.com.
